The SV705C is a high-performance planetary and lunar camera built around Sony’s advanced IMX585 back-illuminated CMOS sensor. Thanks to its modern BSI architecture and refined pixel design, the camera delivers exceptionally low read noise combined with a very large full-well capacity, making it ideal for high-resolution imaging in demanding low-light conditions.

With a full-well capacity of up to 38,000 electrons—around three times that of the older IMX585—the SV705C provides improved dynamic range, smoother tonal transitions, and greater flexibility when capturing fine planetary detail, lunar surface structure, and high-contrast targets.

The IMX585 sensor features a back-illuminated structure and advanced pixel technology, resulting in very low read noise and a large full-well capacity (38ke⁻), especially in low-light conditions. This is three times higher than the IMX485 sensor.

Whether using long exposure times or high gain, the SV705C camera has no amp glow, ensuring high-quality "dark" images.

HCG Digital Noise Reduction Technology – The digital HCG noise reduction technology significantly reduces read noise while maintaining a high dynamic range.

The SV705C supports Region of Interest (ROI), and the automatic resolution can be adjusted, greatly increasing the frame rate in planetary imaging for excellent performance, making planetary imaging effortless.

128MB DDRIII Buffer – The SV705C includes an integrated 128MB DDRIII image buffer. The advantage of this buffer is that it temporarily stores images and transfers them to the computer when the USB interface is not fully utilized or interrupted, preventing frame loss or corruption. This buffer also allows slower computers with USB 3.0 to capture every frame without loss, even if the USB bus is occasionally occupied by other peripherals. Additionally, it enables the use of another camera on the same computer without USB transmission issues from the SV705C.

ST4 Guiding – It is equipped with an ST4 guiding port, supported by PHD2 and the ASCOM platform. You can connect the camera to the mount via a guiding cable and control the device through software on your computer. You will also need filters and other accessories to achieve the best results.
