The SVBONY SV550 80mm f/6 is a premium triplet apochromatic refractor telescope designed for both visual astronomy and deep-sky astrophotography. Triplet APO Optics with S-FPL51 ED Glass

At the heart of the SV550 is a precision 3-element apochromatic objective using one S-FPL51 low-dispersion ED element paired with two correction elements. This advanced triplet design delivers excellent colour correction, dramatically reduces blue fringing, and produces pinpoint stars with excellent contrast across the frame.

Precision 3-Element Objective for Cleaner Stars

The apochromatic triplet lens structure is optimised for astrophotography, improving overall sharpness and edge correction while maintaining natural star colour fidelity. This makes the SV550 80mm an excellent match for modern cooled CMOS cameras and full-frame imaging setups when paired with a field flattener.

2.5" Dual-Speed 1:10 Focuser

The oversized 2.5-inch rack-and-pinion focuser with 1:10 fine focus reduction provides smooth, accurate focusing for both visual use and long-exposure imaging. The wider focuser base also helps reduce vignetting when connecting larger full-frame cameras and imaging trains.

Internal Stray Light Suppression

Four internal light suppression baffles are built into the optical tube to minimise internal reflections and stray light interference. This improves background darkness, contrast, and overall image quality—especially valuable when imaging faint nebulae and star fields.

Wide-Field 480mm Focal Length

The 480mm focal length offers an ideal balance between field of view and resolution, making this refractor superb for larger deep-sky objects such as the North America Nebula, Rosette, Heart & Soul, Andromeda Galaxy, and wide Milky Way mosaics.

SVBONY SV550 80mm focuser adapter and field flattener compatibility

Easy Field Flattener Installation

For astrophotographers using the SV209 field flattener, the rear 2-inch adapter can be easily removed by loosening the three side screws with an Allen key. This allows direct threaded installation for a more secure imaging train and optimised back-focus spacing.

If the focuser adapter ever loosens during use, the same screws can be re-tightened to restore perfect mechanical stability.
